In today’s time technology has made a foray into all aspects of work. From internet to marketing technology is everywhere and is making our lives convenient.
When it comes to audio industry innovations in the way we edit our work has provided a respite to the artists who would otherwise have had to work hard to do so. Such editing software’s are easy to use and provide multiple methods to make changes in your audio.
To help you choose here are the best audios editing software that you can make a choice from. These software’s have been selected from a wide range of available ones and you can select the one that matches your budget and need.
Apart from that you can also see their features and analyse what their benefits are and which one is going to help your work get done the most.
Reaper is well respected by everyone in digital music. Throughout its years of development, it has kept pace with huge commercial editors and retained its small price tag. Free to try, with a trial period that never ends, many consider Reaper free software.
Reaper is typically used to create music which mixes audio with MIDI and other digital production. Musicians will be at home with the software, but songwriting or music production ability is not a prerequisite as there are many beginner tutorials available.
From a purely audio editing point of view, Reaper is capable of anything from podcasting to fully fledged movie and video game soundtracks. Alongside a robust non-destructive timeline, Reaper has its own VST library with professional grade effects to help create a polished sound.
If you’re seeking a sophisticated digital audio workstation that’s equally geared toward audio editing and music production, and you’re ready to invest some money, Reaper (available for Windows and Mac) is a great choice. It’s serious, it’s full featured, and it rivals much more expensive software.
It’s also a great option for individual podcasters and musicians who want to ramp up their skills to a professional-level platform without spending hundreds of dollars until they need to. (If you aren’t sure it’s for you, Reaper’s maker, Cockos, allows you to try Reaper for free for 60 days. On the other hand, should you end up making in excess of $20,000 yearly from your audio work, you’ll need to purchase a $225 commercial license.)
2. Adobe Audition CC
features like Sound Remover, which can eliminate unwanted audio elements from an entire file just by analyzing a small selection. Adobe Audition CC gives you everything you need to edit audio with extraordinary precision and build rich, extraordinary soundscapes.
Because Adobe Audition CC is part of Creative Cloud, you get immediate and exclusive access to all the latest updates and new features as soon as they’re released, and you always control when to download and install them.
You can also conveniently sync settings between your computers; use 20GB of cloud storage for file sharing and collaboration; showcase your work on Behance; and tap into a free and growing library of expert training videos from Adobe and others.
If you’re serious about podcasting, Adobe Audition CC (available for Windows and Mac) is a more advanced—and more expensive—option specifically designed for professional radio and podcast production. The main benefit Audition offers over the other DAWs we tested comes from its sophisticated and effective built-in suite of noise-reduction tools.
It also has powerful and highly customizable compression and EQ settings that go beyond what we found in the other apps we tested; those tools make similar features found in free software like Audacity and GarageBand seem comparatively primitive. If you want to go pro and need the quality to back it up, Audition is the ticket.
Audacity commands huge respect as a piece of free audio software. Used by beginners and professionals alike, there is little it cannot do. It is a firm favorite in the podcasting community, due to its free price tag and quick workflow. Almost every file format imaginable works with Audacity, and simple tasks like cutting and pasting audio clips or recordings are easy to do.
More complicated manipulation is available by using multiple tracks and effects. Audacity has an extensive built-in library of effects ranging from simple reverb to the alien sounding Paulstretch. Alongside high-level audio editing, Audacity can even import images and place effects on them to create crazy glitch art!
Audacity is the best audio editing software for amateur podcasters. In addition to satisfying almost all the criteria we set for our ideal audio editing software, Audacity is free, regularly improved and updated by the open-source community, and available for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
Compared with other software we evaluated, it has a bare-bones user interface, but the stripped-down UI ultimately makes it easy to navigate once you become familiar with it.
A wide range of sophisticated audio processing tools and effects are included, and the program’s features and interface prepare you to use more-advanced audio editing and production software. In other words, Audacity is a great option for beginners, though it does come with a learning curve.
4. FL Studio
FL Studio 12 allows you to create electronic music. It features editing tools such as beat slicing, pitch shifting, audio editing, and chopping. The software can work with several formats to ensure that you can share, play, and use the creation at any time and on any device.
The program has been in development for over 18 years and version 12.4.2 is the newest edition available. This Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) is one of the top selling in its class.
What do you like best?
I like the improvement of shortcuts (compared to FL Studio 12): clip automation, pattern display, and arrangement). FL Studio has some of the most useful stock plugins (Parametric EQ 2, Fruity Compressor, Fruity Delay 2). Compared to other DAWs, FL Studio is easier to learn even for the novice audio engineer, producer, or musician.
What do you dislike?
Higher processor usage can sometimes cause the program to close unexpectedly. Some minor issues with setting up/using third-party VSTs (i.e. Kontakt 11) within FL Studio occurs. FL sometimes has a problem recognizing the software or properly displaying the “activation” screens for that software.
Recommendations to others considering the product
For someone who hasn’t used FL Studio before, I would recommend purchasing the FL Studio beginner’s version priced at $99. This version includes the basic programs for a novice user and allows one to focus on the more general programs. If you decide after testing the beginner’s version that you want more, you can always upgrade vs having to purchase the entire program again.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
From a business point of view, FL Studio has saved me a lot of time. As a music producer, it’s important for me to produce as much high quality music as possible. Within FL Studio, I’m able to create any format of a song (with or without effects) and export numerous formats within a few minutes. FL Studio has helped our business become more organized and productive.
GarageBand is a line of digital audio workstations for macOS and iOS devices that allows users to create music or podcasts. GarageBand is developed and sold by Apple for macOS and is part of the iLife software suite.
Core components of GarageBand ’09 are mostly unchanged from the ’08 version. The interface has been touched up slightly to bring it in line with other iLife apps like imovie, but in terms of functionality, there is nothing substantially new.
A new splash screen better organises what you can do with GarageBand, including a prominent iPhone Ringtone feature. Apple had quietly introduced the ability to export tracks as ringtones in an update to GarageBand ’08 but kept it fairly hidden.
This new simple audio editor has a clean and colourful user interface. It’s so easy to use! It’s fast and it’s lightweight compared to Audacity.
It’s bundled with loads of effects (including compression, EQ and reverb) that you can apply and tweak in real-time.
This is a huge benefit as most free editors are destructive (they record effects straight to the audio) so you have to rely on a ‘preview’ button. But in ocenaudio, you can play with the parameters of the effect and hear the changes instantly.
What Do You Like Best?
I love Ocenaudio because it is a practical free audio editor, I have been able to edit songs and audios quickly and easily. To lower the volume of audio, to eliminate a fragment or to change the format to him are only some of the tasks that more often I realize.
I also like that Ocenaudio is available for Windows, Mac and Linux, it’s free and its interface is very simple, with the basics and essential to perform the usual tasks.
I love this audio editor, so I can listen to my favorite songs in my car and my clients like it. With Oceanaudio I have been able to cut audio fragments, copy and paste them, change the original file format to RAW, WAV, CAF, MP3, MP4, OGG, AU, AIFF or FLAC and add effects to the audio.
It is brilliant!!
What Do You Dislike?
- I like everything about this editor, I have nothing bad to say, it has been very useful for me
- Recommendations to others considering the product
- I recommend all Oceanaudio. It is an excellent audio editor
What Business Problems Are You Solving With The Product? What Benefits Have You Realized?
My job is a taxi driver, and I like that my clients enjoy the ride in the car, I always put music that they like. With Oceanaudio I have been able to edit my great repertoire of music and so I have a great variety of songs that I can listen to in my car.

Review: TopTen Reviews
Pros: You have the ability to multitrack, as well as use all the program’s various effects.
Cons: It lacks many audio restoration tools that other audio editors possess.
Verdict: If recording audio is the main reason you are looking for an audio editor, not many programs that we reviewed have the recording tools and capabilities of MAGIX Music Maker, which makes it a solid option.
Wavosaur is a cool free sound editor, audio editor, wav editor software for editing, processing and recording sounds, wav and mp3 files. Wavosaur has all the features to edit audio (cut, copy, paste, etc.) produce music loops, analyze, record, batch convert.
Wavosaur supports VST plugins, ASIO driver, multichannel wav files, real time effect processing.
Review: PC World
A portable, full-featured audio editor that supports ASIO and VST FX in a mere 225KB download? Wavosaur is tight programming and then some. But despite its tiny footprint, this free audio editor has tons of features so you can change bit rates, convert, create and apply volume envelopes, cut, dice, slice, detect beats, normalize, and much more.
It’s also very fast in applying those edits and non-destructive, which means you may undo your actions without reloading the original file.. What Wavosaur doesn’t do is reverb, chorus, flange, and compress, etc. Instead, the program relies on VST effects plug-ins (Virtual Studio Technology, a standard from industry heavyweight Steinberg) for FX. That’s no doubt part of the reason it’s so efficiently-sized. You can find download links and listings of many free VST effects plug-ins on the Wavosaur website if you’ve none of your own.

Metadata can be modified, volumes altered and files renamed based on customizable naming schemes. Songs can be easily mixed with fading and audio tracks extracted from existing videos, e.g. to create ring tones.
Ashampoo Music Studio 4 is a classy step up from an already sweet little suite of audio tools. It has modules that let you edit, rip, record, play, convert, organize, burn audio discs, and even design and print labels and jewel case inserts.
Ashampoo Music Studio’s major additions to version 4 are the cataloging of files and ripping audio from video files, but there’s no longer an audio file repair tool.
