Box TV Live For Public; Inks Partnership With Sony And Disney UTV

Times Internet’s  BoxTV, an online on demand video service, is available for public viewing.

In beta phase, the platform had  garnered around 100,000 access requests. Times Internet says that BoxTV currently has around 17,000 hours of movie content counting Hollywood blockbusters and 5000 hours of TV shows which are also largely US based shows.

Working on a freemium model, part of the content would be on ad-supported free-to-user basis and rest will be available for monthly subscription. Indian subscriptions start at Rs 199 per month, while users in US and UK would need to shell out $4.99 and £4.99 per month, respectively.

To support the launch, the company has inked content agreements with Sony Pictures Television and Disney UTV to offer their premium titles on BoxTV. Besides, BoxTV has also announced partnerships with UTV Motion Pictures, Shemaroo Entertainment, Rajshri Entertainment and Everymedia Technologies for Bollywood and regional content.

Users can access  to BoxTV via a wide range of apps on the platform of their choice. It is available across iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets; Kindle Fire, EvoTV, Woxi Pod and Roku. Apps for Windows 8, J2ME and Blackberry platforms are currently in the pipeline.
